Tools: Autodesk Revit
This Architectural design was created in Autodesk Revit. This was a renovation of an existing space, which meant I had to design within an existing footprint.
My design process started with assessing the existing space and its current functional deficiencies and turning those into efficiencies. The shape of the existing space initially proved challenging and split up, but as I worked with the designs, I realized later the space worked perfectly!
I planned for real life in being thoughtful about how people would be using this space, what their natural habits were in this space, and to create efficiency. I started by creating hand drawn sketches and concept drawings of the café. After I iterated on the design, I started to create a vision of the space using Revit. I was thoughtful about the materials and design in an effort to create a balance in the overall composition, and creating focal points, such as a corner area of the room which could be used for live musical entertainment or other events. I designed the right side, a larger seating area, to provide a more communal, engaging feel and a front row seat to the entertainment that evening. But for those who wanted a more private space, they may choose to sit in the left, more narrow side of the space to provide them with an area more to themselves.
